Cornerstone Franciscan Ministries is Hiring a Full Charge Bookkeeper Near Timonium, MD

Cornerstone Franciscan Ministries is a newly-formed non-profit organization in the Baltimore/Washington area. For over 10 years, the ministries of Cornerstone existed at St Francis Episcopal Parish and Community Center. The leadership of St Francis decided it was in the best interest of these missions to separate them into a new organization in order to ensure their continued success and allow for future growth.

The Services Division of Cornerstone provides accounting, finance and administrative services to faith-based organizations. Many organizations do not require a full-time bookkeeper or don’t have the finance, accounting, HR, and specialized finance resources available to adequately support their mission in a cost-effective manner. Cornerstone provides all these services to our partner organizations while providing financial professionals full-time career opportunities.

We are looking for full-charge bookkeepers to join our growing team. The duties will include some or all of the following for multiple organizations:

1) Participation in the creation of annual budgets

2) Maintaining the General Ledger, including the processing of all bookkeeping transactions required to accurately reflect the financial transactions of an organization in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals

3) Processing scanned vendor invoices and credit card charges

4) Completing monthly invoicing, as required, to for any accounts receivable

5) Processing of cash receipts, including the maintenance of contribution databases

6) Performing reconciliations of accounts and ad-hoc financial analysis, as needed.

7) Performing monthly closing activities, including preparation of monthly financial reports and commentary on results.

The successful candidate will possess:

A desire to take the next step in their financial career using their experience, knowledge, talent, and skills to serve the ministries and mission of faith-based organizations

Experience with full-charge bookkeeping, preferably in a non-profit context

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel

An interest in financial processes and their continuous improvement

Experience in successfully operating in a remote work environment, in a highly accurate and efficient manner

Excellent oral and written communication skills
